Whoever incrudelisce toward animals without necessity or it also submits them to torment or tortures or to behaviors and unbearable works for their ethological characteristics, or it holds them under incompatible conditions with their nature or it abandons pets or that has acquired habits of the captivity you/he/she is punished with the fine by liras 2 liras million 10 million. The punishment is increased if the fact is committed with particularly painful means, what formality of the traffic, of the commerce, of the transport, of the breeding, of the slaughter or of a show of animals, or if it causes the death of the animal: in these cases the sentence involves the publication of the sentence and the forfeiture of the animals object of the maltreatment, except that belongs to extraneous people to the crime. In the case of recidivist the sentence involves the interdiction from the exercise of the activity of commerce, of transport, of breeding, of slaughter or of show.
