Volterra, as a lot of among the cities that sink his/her own roots in the history, it has one folk Group of his: the Historical Group Sbandieratori and Balestrieri Città of Volterra, that he/she boasts of indeed ancient origins so much that a document already attests the presence to Volterra of a first nucleus of sbandieratori from 1406.
Reconstituted in 1978, you/he/she has been called to perform innumerable times in Italy and to the foreign countries, riscotendo wherever consents for the elegance of the customs and the cleverness of the Sbandieratoris and the Musicis; in 1980 you/he/she has entered to belong to the Italian Federation Sbandieratori and in 1981 you/he/she has given life to the first edition of the Astiludio, a demonstration whose historical references go up again, note, to 1406. The demonstration consists in an original competitive-choreographic competition, among the sbandieratoris of the Italian cities that boast the most ancient traditions of game with the flag. Since then he repeats every year, on first Sundays of September, in the spectacular frame of the Plaza of the Prior.
Numerous they are the affirmations achieved by the Group in the principals national and international Tournaments: among the other repeated titles of Italian Champions in the specialties of the Traditional Individual and the Musicis.
In his/her exhibitions, the choreographies and the games they are inspired to historical facts happened in the Volterra medioevale and Renaissance.
Currently it is composed of an about sixty of showing up, among sbandieratori, musici, vessilliferi and pages; the worn customs, reproduce those some end of the XIV century, whose harmonious sketches have been drawn by the Historical file of Volterra, and they now propose the colors of the ancient city regions, now the weapons of the Common medioevale.
