The wine's Museum Vernaccia of St. Gimignano is a homage to the quality and the prestige of the wine sangimignanese and to his/her fortunes. The city senese has brought before, during the years, a politics of quality in the sector vinicolo, imposing himself/herself/itself on the market as city symbol of the "made in Italy." The wines produced to St. Gimignano are: the Vernaccia of St. Gimignano DOCG, St. Gimignano Red DOC and the I.G.T. Tuscany, for a general production of 9 million annual bottles, of which 70% are sold to the foreign countries, while the remainder 30% are sold on the inside market. The success of the wine is also tied to the international fame of St. Gimignano as city of art and patrimony of the humanity for the Unesco, and to the ability shown in the time to valorize his/her own treasures. For these motives St. Gimignano and its wine also deserve an exploitation and a recognition type artistic, through the realization of a Museum, to the Villa of the Fortress of Montestaffoli, planned by the architect Duccio Santini and realized thanks to the Consortium of the Denomination St. Gimignano and to the association Road of the Wine Vernaccia of St. Gimignano.
The Museum recognizes to the wine quality of work of art and object of "antiquariato", but also of contemporary work. Wine is proposed as a trip by to complete to the search of its history and its essence. The museum, in fact, proposes an itinerary through the wine. Panels graces, images, photo, interactive tools to converse with corporate body and firms, but also through perceptions type visual and olfattivo, the visitor will take a trip in the essence of the wine, in a space devoted to the feelings: to the odor of the vinaccia, to the images of the grape that you/he/she is squeezed, to the gurgle of the wine that ferments...
Three video projected in the rooms of the museum they tell the birth and the history of the Vernaccia of St. Gimignano, they offer a course of tasting and the images of a product that you/he/she has become, in the time, also a subject of the communication. The structure of the museum also includes a room lecture, a space for the summer cinema and, obviously you/he/she could not miss, the Room tastings, where the cognitive run of the wine finds its completeness.
