After all to the gulf of Valinco, from the calm and clear waters, this dock rises, today become an important tourist center. Propriano is a place of famous stay for the manifold offered possibilities: nautical sport, numerous beaches of sand end and a hinterland rich in curiosity.
The whole region, inhabited since the age of the bronze, it entertained commercial relationships with the Carthaginian ones, the etruschis and the Greek. The place of Propriano became therefore, probably at the end of the II sec. to.C., an important town.
To the beginnings of last century, Propriano was not that a dependent fraction from the commune of Fozzano. The development of this modest I bring, only result on the sea of the region of Sartene, well ridossato from the winds of West and Northwest thanks to the Rock-cliff Longo, began only around 1906, when the two docks were built, the bench for the berth and the lighthouse. This impulse was nevertheless of brief duration and the town he/she was dormant for many years. They were the tourists coming from the continent finally, looking for sun and of rest, to wake up again the life of this place and to make of Propriano one of the principal bathing stations of Corsica.
The harbor
