The Park Natural Course
The park natural regional course covers a surface of around 300.000 hectares interesting the territory of 83 communes. You extends especially in western Corsica understanding the thick ones some Surrounded Mountain, of the Round Mountain, of the gold Mountain, of the Sandy Mountain and of the Anvil Mountain. To West, in his/her coastal part, they lean out the stupendous gulves of I Bring and of the Girolata as well as the peninsula of the Scandola, protected as it reserves natural. This park includes the principal forests of the center (Aitone, Valdo-Niello, Vizzavona, Bavella, the hospital...) and the most admirable natural beauties of the island (the Calanches of Plain, the throats of Spelunca and the Restonica, the hill of Bavella, the lake of Nino...). The park was created in 1970 with the purpose to favor a best knowledge and a Royal protection of the nature contributing to the renewal of the rural economy of the inside of the island.
The activity of the park is addressed above all to preserve the flora and the fauna; Corsica, in fact, possesses some extremely rare vegetable kinds, further to a patrimony faunistico that risks to disappear (you bend fishermen, raced sitte, gipeti, royal eagles, mufloni). For the struggle against the fires, inside the park I/you/they have been realized some areas "ransom fires" (zones freed by the sterpaglies), some turrets of observation and you displace some maxis cisterns.
Every year, the fires destroy in the Corsica around 3000/3500 hectares of forests and Mediterranean stain. Walkers, campers, smokers. you are very prudent: and' a patrimony of the humanity!
The park also operates for the safeguard of the traditional (sheepfolds, mills, old houses) constructions, for the restauration and the exploitation of the monuments (Genoese towers, chapels...) or of the archaeological rests and, among the a lot of initiatives directed to favor the activity in the abandoned villages of the hinterland, try also to relaunch the ovine and pig breeding and to develop the tourism they climb on, creating structures for the winter sports, crossed of mountaineering, encircled equestrian. Besides you/they are traced, and submitted different itineraries to continuous maintenance escursionistici, essential to discover the mountain, the sea and the small countries of the inside (the GR20, the Path between Sea and Mountains between Calenzana and Cargese, the paths among the villages) afoot. These runs that push him in the inside of the island are all endowed with a net of innumerable points of standstill and shelters is unguarded that guarded.
