Church of Sant'Erasmo (Église St-Érasme)

Imperial chapel
Of Renaissance style was made to build in 1857 from Napoleone III in stone of St-Florent for the burial of the imperial family. The great dome to trompe the oeil, painted by an architect of Ajaccio: Gerolamo Maglioli, and the glass door are decorated with the weapons of the cardinal Fesch. A beautiful Coptic Christ, gift of the general Bonaparte to his/her/their mother on the occasion of its return from Egypt, adorns the greatest altar. In the situated circular crypt under the dome they are buried: Letitia Ramolino, been born to Ajaccio in 1750 and dead to Rome to the 86 year-old age, Charles Maria Bonaparte (1746-1785), the cardinal Fesch (1763-1839), Charles Luciano, great child of Luciano Bonaparte, Napoleone Carlo, 3° child of Charles Luciano and his/her two daughters Zenaide and Eugenia. To the two sides of the crypt, in the staircase of access, the princess Clementina of Belgium and the prince Vittorio is interred, dead to Bruxelles in 1926.
Museum Fesch
It entertains the most important collection of Italian paintings preserved in France, after that of the Louvre, further to works of French and Spanish school. It enters you from the courtyard of honor that corresponds to the 2° level (temporary exposures). To the 3° level paintings of Four hundred Italian can be admired, particularly of Jacopo Sellajo, Lawrence of Creeds, Giovanni Bellini of the Venetian (notable his/her Madonna with his/her/their Child) school, and of the Botticelli (Madonna of the Garland). Among the works XVI sec. two cloths of Venetian school are noticed: Injures of the Veronese and the second Man from the glove of Titian. To the 4° level works of the XVII sec is exposed., while the 1° level entertains a section devoted to the imperial family.
