Teatralfestamercatomedievale sews together by now to the 16 ^ edition, has been created with unique formula and irripetibile: recovery of the artisan tradition, review and point of World reference of the International Festival of the street Theater.
Mercantia is by now a reality that crosses the regional and national confinements, always more often tourists and impassioned of Europe they plan his/her own vacations on the occasion of this important demonstration.
The over 80.000 presences of the last edition and the many other spectators of the space of in the low city, damage the people's dimension involved by the magic of this great container of refined party and popolare at the same time.
In the edition 2002 more than 100 Groups of street Theater, coming from the whole world you/they have given spettacolo for 6 days in the spaces and in the scenografies naturali of the suburb of
Certaldo Alto. About ten Artisans have shown in directed the antiches arts to work the glass, iron, wood, paper, ceramica. The market realized in the low part of the city has conferred further vivacity to the party. Shows, conferences and debates have created the fabric of the demonstration qualifying her/it and bringing her/it all'attenzione of the most demanding public and the national Press. MERCANTIA 2003. Us, illuminated by his/her rays opening our hearts with free spirit, we serenely play a great symphony, rich of joy. I pass after footstep with joy, courage happiness and smiles we return every time in the grandiose one and I immortalize castle. (Drawn from: "The castle of the victory" of Daisaku Ikeda) Mercantia celebrates his/her fifteen years and Wednesday 24 July, the moon it will shine beautiful and flood in the sky of Certaldo: the thing cannot interest as the critical theatrical, but for a party, as is Mercantia, is important to also look at the moon! A special effect, indeed inimitable, when tipsy in the night above the marvelous one I husk some street artists! I would not want to deprive me some adjective "marvelous" to describe our festival. And then... we are not us to say him/it: have taken in loan what say in many among ours pleasant public! Contemplating to the marvelous one won't be difficult to reach at least the very beautiful one or the magic one.
Measure only not us for our shows or for the artistic craftsmanship that appears in the buildings and in the streets of the suburb, you open your hearts and you breathe that sense of liberty and joy that fragrance that can be touched with hand in every square meter of the party. During the magic nights of Mercantia all part of an only great show you/they can be felt, of a' only symphony that, footstep after footstep, unties him along the streets of the old castle. Courage every year be needed, joy is needed for organizing a party, Mercantia, where the shows and the artisans are not only looked for and situated one for one, but where is set takes care of even to the light of the thin moon beams! After the description of the poetic lines, here some you sprout some artistic project of this edition in which a strong recovery of manifold presences of street artists foresees him along the streets of the old suburb, without for this to abdicate the great theatrical events that you/they are already preannounced important.
In the six days of the festival we will have, in fact, guests the theatrical company ATMO, that Mercantia has chosen for celebrating his/her twenty years of activity, as well as "Otto and Bernelli" that, theirs will celebrate twenty-five street years instead, with a first festival of the "One hand band", from them coordinated, in the low part of the country.
A show every fifteen meters, so much to keep on giving the numbers: this is a slogan and an objective that I hope to succeed in maintaining.
A party, that foresees roads full of surprised and of amazement, for the so many arts and for the so many eccentric characters that him "risks" to meet wherever the eyes is turned! Savior Cat, one of the teachers (international!) of the guarratelles, he/she will take care of a space devoted to the popular tradition and to a certain way to be artists. There will be new productions and old men characters, fires and he/she eats fires, mangiaspade and "he/she eats well", in one of the restaurants or stings comfort of Certaldo, music and Gangs, monocicli in parade and new jugglers, museums, shows, works of art, installations, Boccaccio and Joe Chiodo: everything this is
Mercantia, the greatest party of the street artists, the more one loved by Italians!
Celebrating the fifteen years of our history, but also that of the street art in Italy, has directed my choices "toward the heart" and I am asking to the artists to not only set attention to appear, but above all to the being: an underline and a recovery of the primary value of the communication and the to give him in the street. In the job of the street artists, as in that of the artisans, you/he/she can emerge the job as primary value and, therefore, the abilities as human beings to transform the reality, to modify the subject to make a good service for the others and for the whole community. The job will have shown and shown... job and leisure time, sweat and smile as sense of a community that he recognizes and he finds again, aspects of a same symphony, rich of joy. I conclude agurandoci a good job, to you and we, and I also add good fun and we wait you in the magic of the nights of Mercantia.
